Duck & Fish: A Children’s Book Illustrated with Recycled Magazines

July 2nd, 2011

Megan Coyle recently finished writing and illustrating her first children’s book – Duck & Fish. Duck & Fish tells the story of a mallard duck who meets a flying fish at the beach. The two animals tell one another about the joys of flying in the sky or swimming underwater. Once they go their separate ways, Fish finds himself imagining what it would be like to fly while Duck ponders life underwater. What would happen if they could live such different lives? Would they be happy?

Duck & Fish will take you on an adventure with two animals that explore new, wondrous worlds. Vivid illustrations accompany the imaginative storyline. Coyle created about thirty different works of art for the book, each illustration made entirely from magazine strips. Coyle has made quite a name for herself when it comes to the art of cutting and pasting paper. She manipulates recycled magazine pages in such a way to make collages that look a lot like oil or acrylic paintings.

Coyle is currently selling copies of Duck & Fish through Amazon. You can order copies of her book by visiting www.megancoyle.com/duckfish.
